Gestalt Therapy

Gestalt Practitioner, Gestalt-IFFP Certified (2024)

Gestalt Therapy takes into account the individual as a whole, addressing the physical, emotional, and psychological aspects of our experience. The therapeutic work is primarily conducted through conversation, incorporating the bodily and emotional sensations experienced during the sessions to resolve past or present, sometimes painful or repetitive situations.

Gestalt Therapy is a relational therapy, meaning it explores how we engage with those around us, whether on an intimate, family, friendship, or professional level. The connection between the client and the therapist is key to making progress in therapy.

Developed in the 1950s on the East Coast of the United States by a group of therapists and philosophers, Gestalt Therapy expanded to the West Coast and Europe in the 1970s. It is part of the field of humanistic therapies, with a phenomenological and existential approach, and also draws from Taoist philosophy and Zen practice.

Here are the specific themes I address:

  • Relational, personal, and/or professional difficulties
  • Burnout, professional exhaustion
  • Harassment and discrimination
  • Intersectionality: individuals experiencing or at risk of intersecting forms of discrimination
  • Neurodiversity: Autism Spectrum Disorders, ADHD, Giftedness, and Learning Disorders (Dyslexia, Dyscalculia, etc.)
  • Sexual and romantic orientation (lesbian, gay, bi, pansexual, asexuality, aromanticism)
  • Gender identities, gender transitions, and non-binarity
  • Intersex

I am open to discussing any other topics for which you seek support: feel free to contact me to discuss.

Mindfulness Meditation & Qigong

A practitioner of meditation and Qigong for several years, I incorporate these practices into therapy to offer moments of breathing, awareness of bodily sensations, and emotions.
My approach is based on Martin Aylward's mindfulness meditation practice and Mimi Kuo-Deemer's Qigong practice.

Active Listening

Active listening is a therapeutic approach developed by Carl R. Rogers, based on his extensive experience as a psychotherapist and psychologist. By placing the client at the center of the therapy, it enables the development of deep and empathetic listening to welcome emotions, feelings, and experiences as they arise.

Aromatherapy

Scents, such as citrus essences, floral extracts, bark, and leaf oils, can serve as a key to accessing emotions and can support you during challenging times. Just like Proust's madeleine, whose smell recalls memories of his happy childhood, certain scents—unique to each person—can be comforting, relaxing, or, conversely, energizing and uplifting! They actively contribute to support during difficult life moments. I offer to integrate essential oils into the therapeutic process for enhanced emotional support.
